Our Story

Everyone has their Own unique story and path.  Ours is no different.  Own Brook Farms started as a dairy farm and just celebrated its 200th anniversary.  One of the most amazing parts of this story is the farm was carried forward by women not just once, but twice in its history.  The name Own Brook came from my grandmother, one of those strong women I just mentioned, as she was filling out paperwork to register the cows in the 1950’s.  Each registered Holstein needs to have a prefix which was often the farm name.  Grammy wanted to name the farm “Spring Brook”, but it was already taken.  Hence, Ownbrook Farms was born.  Sadly, the cows were sold in the early 2000’s, but the farm is still in operation with my father and brother growing corn, soybeans and hay.  Own Brook Winery was born a couple of years ago with a casual comment from my wife and has now become our Own story and dream.  We hope to start growing our Own grapes on the family farm in a few years. But for now, we are focusing on making great wine. We are glad you chose Own Brook Winery to be a part of your unique path and hope you share a glass and tell the story with another.

Thank You,

The Fry Family
